Prosecutors and investigators of the Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region, together with the employees of the Economic Crime Department in Transcarpathian region notified one of the deputy heads of the Transcarpathian regional forestry and hunting range administration and the director of one of the local forest farms about suspicion in abuse of office, which led to grave consequences (Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It was established that the officials, in 2016, abusing their official positions, gave permission for the illegal logging on the territory of the Uzhgorod forestry natural reserve fund.
Thus, the head of the local forestry, with the prior consent of one of the deputy heads of the Transcarpathian regional forestry and hunting range administration, illegally issued and approved harvesting tickets. Subsequently, on the basis of these documents, sanitary felling was illegally carried out on the territory of the natural reserve fund.
The amount of damages, according to the expert’s findings, is UAH 2,600,000.
At present, the choice of a pre-trial restraint against the suspect is being decided, the press service of the prosecutor’s office in Transcarpathian region informs.
