Transcarpathian Fallen Heroes – state awards

ON May 23, the President signed the decree according to which the state awards are presented to 264 soldiers, including 228 officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who died in the battles for independence in Donbas.  Among them, there are Transcarpathian soldiers of the Heaven’s Battalion (decree number 270/2015).

As reported on the official website of the President of Ukraine, the killed soldiers were posthumously awarded with high military decorations – the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky of the III degree and "For courage" of the III degree – for personal courage and professionalism found in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, loyalty to the military oath.

A lot of them are defenders of Debaltsevo bridgehead and Donetsk airport.

Among the awarded Heroes, there are Transcarpathians. Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky of the III degree (posthumously) is awarded to Oleksandr Babich (Major), Vitaliy Belikov (Senior Lieutenant), Oleg Koval (Senior Lieutenant). Order "For courage" of the III degree (posthumously) is awarded to Volodymyr Hafich (sergeant), Anatoliy Holyk (soldier), Adalbert Kovacs (soldier), Roman Kozychko (sergeant), Yaroslav Kost (soldier), Serhiy Kuzmenko (soldier), Victor Markus (sergeant), Vitaliy Moreka (soldier), Mykhailo Pechunka (sergeant), Igor Rozlutsky (soldier), Ruslan Sabov (foreman), Ruslan Semchyshche (senior soldier), Oleksandr Terban (sergeant), Sandor Tovt (senior sergeant). Those, who served in Transcarpathia: Victor Boyko and Victor Punda, Vyacheslav Kirichek and Serhiy Dolgikh, Ruslan Lishchuk, Oleksandr Mamlay and Oleksandr Popov, Vadim Pronin, Andriy Charkas, Volodymyr Oznamets, Victor Melnichenko, Vyacheslav Zavalnyuk were also posthumously awarded with the Order "For courage" of the III degree.

Earlier, on May 15, the President posthumously nominated Transcarpathian soldiers for awards. Also, on the Remembrance Day, in the lobby of the Regional State Administration, state decorations were posthumously awarded to Transcarpathians who were killed in the ATO area.

Appreciate the living Heroes and do not forget the fallen Heroes… Because it is not official ranks and medals that have value…
