Transcarpathian dweller received ‘bronze medal’ in the World Championship

In the German town of Bad-Hartsburh finished World Championship Sports Orienteering among veterans – World Masters Orienteering Championships. Competition gathered over 4000 athletes from 43 countries, said Zakarpattia Online.

Championship played out in 12 age categories, ‘the oldest’ of which was for athletes not younger than 90 years (6 participants)!

The champions were determined in two types of program – in the sprint and long distance. The largest number of teams put Finland (654 athletes), Sweden (506), Norway (500), Russian Federation (428) and Germany (413), Ukraine was represented by 41 athlete, for the first time the representative of Transcarpathia – 43-year-old Andriy Shebaldov from Mukachevo became the member of the team.

Our dweller, with the result of 1 hour 16 minutes and 13 seconds, on 15 seconds ahead of the Brazilian Rozherio Antonio Pereira, managed to take the third place in the final-B on a long distance.
