Among many other issues, including appeals to Kyiv from Transcarpathian Regional Council, the deputies voted for the decision that should help the International Airport "Uzhgorod" to survive.
In 2016, the term of the agreement with the Slovak Republic on the use of its airspace expires – because of the location of the airport, planes have to enter the airspace of Slovakia to make a turn.
Therefore, the Regional Council appeals to Kyiv asking to extend the agreement and generally to help the airport with financing in order to meet European standards for such infrastructure.
It is about 15 million hryvnia needed for the reconstruction of the airport, including the runway.
