Transcarpathian delegation in Romania made arrangements for the construction of the bridge to connect Bila Tserkva and Sighetu

The delegation of Transcarpathian region headed by the Chariman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko on Thursday visited the Romanian city of Sighetu Marmatiei.

There, together with Romanian partners, they discussed the project of building the bridge to connect the village of Bila Tserkva in Rakhiv district and the city of Sighetu in the Maramures county. On the Ukrainian party, the Deputy Governor Mykhailo Rivis, the head of Tyachiv District State Administration, Vasyl Yovdiy, the head of European Integration Department Andriy Vartsaba and Bila Tserkva village head Yuriy Berinde took part in the meeting.

The delegation held talks with the Maramures county prefect Anton Rokhian, the Consul General of Romania in Chernivtsi Eleanora Moldovans, the city management.

The protocol on the need to build a road bridge "Bila Tserkva – Sighetu" was signed back in 1997, as it would significantly reduce the load on the main checkpoint "Dyakove-Halmeu" and would make it possible to combine tourist routes of the Carpathian region of Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine and Romania, which are becoming more popular every year.

Currently, the Ukrainian government has appealed to Romania on the possibility of opening the checkpoint in Yablunivka – Remeta and Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmatiei.

Anton Rokhian said that last year, Ukrainian and Romanian parties undertook a more practical steps for the construction of the bridge. In Romania, they have announced a tender for the production of construction documents, it is expected to be produced by April next year. The project itself can be implemented in a year. It is expected that the bridge will be designed for four rows and will be arched.
