Transcarpathian customs officers seized UAH 1.5 million worth of goods from China

Today, July 16, 2019, a truck loaded with tractor mowers arrived at the customs post "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian Customs. According to the submitted shipping documents, the cargo worth 10,580 Euro was being carried in the vehicle. The seller was an Italian company, and the recipient was a Ukrainian company from the city of Odesa.

During the customs inspection, customs officers found 948 kg of clothing from China (women’s dresses – 739, men’s sweaters – 209 kg), as well as 10 boxes with spare parts weighing 413 kg, which were not declared in the shipping documents. The total weight of the found goods is 1 tonne 361 kg and the estimated value is UAH 1.5 million.

The driver explained that unfamiliar to him citizens of Ukraine had asked him to move the cargo across the customs border, since they failed to transfer it to the territory of Ukraine on the last day. Thus, the driver, wanting to make some extra money, loaded the goods into his vehicle and attempted to move them across the customs border.

At present, the driver is giving written explanation, the found goods are being identified and, accordingly, the measures are being taken to draw up a report on violation of customs rules under Article 422 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
