Transcarpathian customs officers found 95 thousand packs of cigarettes in lumber

At the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs, a Slovak citizen tried to smuggle cigatettes in a truck. All the cigarettes were of the brand "NZ" manufactured in the Republic of Belarus with excise stamps of this country.

These actions are classified as violation of the customs rules under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine, namely transportation of goods across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control. These actions entail the imposition of a fine of 100 percent of the value of goods with confiscation of such goods, as well as goods with specially manufactured caches used for smuggling across the customs border of Ukraine.

Recall that the illegal transportation of tobacco products was detected on September 22 at the customs post "Uzhgorod" of the Transcarpathian Customs. According to the shipping documents submitted for the customs control, the truck driver was carrying lumber from Russia to Slovakia. However, when weighed, the boards turned out to be 3.5 tons lighter than stated in the documents. This was the grounds for carrying out a full customs inspection of the vehicle and the cargo, during which the hidden tobacco products were found.
