Transcarpathian customs officers didn’t let a foreigner move hidden cigarettes across the border

Today, March 13, 2019, hidden cigarettes were found at the checkpoint "Tisa" of the Transcarpathian Customs, during an in-depth inspection of a truck Mercedes-Benz with Polish registration.

A Romanian planned to cross the border with Hungary with 617 packs of cigarettes Marlboro, Chesterfield, Camel and Winston made in Ukraine with excise stamps.

Arriving at the checkpoint, the citizen reported that he was not transporting any goods and items hidden from customs control. However, considering the risks and having sent the truck for in-depth inspection, customs officers found hidden cigarettes. The found tobacco products were hidden in a specially made cache, namely the double bottom of the vehicle, under the rear seat.

These actions have signs of violation of customs regulations envisaged by Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

According to the law, the car and the cigarettes with the total cost of more than UAH 235 thousand were seized.
