Transcarpathian customs officers confiscated a car from a Ukrainian, who tried to smuggle cigarettes across the border

On the night of July 4 to 5, at the checkpoint "Solotvyno", officers of the Transcarpathian Customs stopped an attempt to smuggle tobacco products to the EU. A citizen of Ukraine tried to illegally move cigarettes across the customs border to Romania.

The Ukrainian drove at the checkpoint by a car "Skoda Fabia" with Ukrainian registration.

Before customs control, the citizen verbally declared the absence of any goods and objects hidden from customs control, or those that are prohibited for export from Ukraine.

Based on analysis and risk assessment, officers of the Transcarpathian customs office took the vehicle out of the general flow for customs inspection and found foreign-manufactured tobacco products hidden from the customs control, namely 450 packs of cigarettes "Marvel" without excise stamps of Ukraine. Access to the hidden tobacco products was made possible after dismantling the rear bumper of the vehicle and two plates that were screwed on and sealed and blocked access to a specially made cache in the rear of the car.

Thus, the citizen committed acts aimed at moving tobacco products across the customs border of Ukraine concealed from customs control.

These actions have signs of customs rules violation under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

Currently, the report on violation of customs regulations was made, the cigarettes and the car worth over 125,000 UAH were seized.
