It seems that more and more different kinds of accidents are happenning to smugglers of cigarettes, cigarettes themselves and their vehicles. So it happened on October 6 near the small village of Kisar a few kilometers from the checkpoint "Beregsurany-Astey".
This time, rescuers had to pull out of the gutter a car, in the baggage compartment of which they later found eighty thousand packs of cigarettes without excise stamps.
Representatives of law enforcement agencies interrogated the driver and passengers – citizens of Ukraine who had not managed to flee from the scene. They are now held in custody.
They can be sentenced to two to eight years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
