Transcarpathian connoisseurs of Modigliani can enjoy his works at an exhibition in Budapest

The exhibition of the great artist Amedeo Modigliani is taking place in the Hungarian National Gallery, the myhungary.net informs. It opened on June 29 and runs until October 2. The exhibition features more than 80 works by the artist from the private collections around the world. This is the first such large-scale exhibition of Modigliani in Hungary.

Amedeo Modigliani was born in Italy in 1884. He lived all his life in poverty because his works were not successful. He did not have enough money for canvas and paints. So the artist had to scrape paint off of old paintings. Since childhood, he had a poor health, which greatly influenced his early death. He died at the age of 35 from an infectious disease. After his death, his works gained wide acclaim. Many of them have been sold at auctions for tens of millions of dollars. Currently, Modigliani is considered one of the most expensive artists of the twentieth century.
