Transcarpathian children participated in Shevchenko events in Kaniv

Our country is going through difficult times. And, various events that highlight the unity and great patriotism of all people – citizens of Ukraine – are relevant more than ever.

One such event took place on September 19, 2014 in the city of Kaniv. The nationwide literary and artistic event "On eternal way to Shevchenko" brought together more than 25 representatives of the national cultures of Ukraine. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine jointly with the public and commercial center "Ukrainian Cultural Center" (general director – Honored Artist of Ukraine V. Kutsevalov). The participants were welcomed in the Museum of Shevchenko National Reserve, because the event was dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko.

Representatives of multinational Transcarpathia were also invited to participate in the festival.  Slovak culture was represented by Jana Fedor, a student of the 10th grade of Storozhnytsia school №1; Hungarian culture – by Zita Kovacs, a student of Uzhgorod College of Culture and Arts (teacher – Oksana Shyp). Vocal duet "Ridna Pisnya" (Uzhgorod district community center, Serhiy Rakhovsky and Tetyana Rakhovska) also participated in the festival. The duet had the honor to open (with a literary and musical composition "My Thoughts", lyrics by T. Shevchenko) and close the festival (with their own song "Ukraine").

Poems of the Ukrainian genius were recited in different languages.

Shevchenko’s words united all of us, because his poems contain the basic idea – the desire of freedom and independence. We all are Ukrainians, and we sincerely wish our country unity, freedom and victory!
