Transcarpathia will become cleaner… (PHOTOS)

On June 28, there was a retreat meeting of the Uzhgorod Press Club at the traditional celebration of the Danube Day, which this year Ukraine will celebrate on the border with Hungary – the Tisa River – with the participation of senior officials of both countries. 

  The joint Ukrainian-Hungarian Danube Day took place on both banks of the Tisa. The festival began on a barge on the Tisa between the two banks, temporary crossing points were opened specifically for the holiday. There, on the barge, representatives of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube, the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Hungary and heads of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration and the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg region opened the celebration.

   One of the events at the Day of the Danube, was a solemn transfer of containers for selective collection of plastic to the village of Halabor from the permanent partner of the holiday, Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine. Halabor village became the fifth locality in Transcarpathia where waste management system will be improved with the support of the company. 

The program was iteresting and eventful. Thus, during the celebrations, there was the round table on cross-border cooperation on water resources, quest quiz for children "Treasures of the Tisa" and music festival "With love to the Tisa". The event was held on both banks of the Tisa. This contributed to the implementation of the principle of "no boundaries in the management of rivers", as required by the EU Water Framework Directive.

   One of the most interesting parts of the event was painting of the "Tisa wish fish" in the form of small fish. The Danube Day ended with a symbolic event – the exchange of small "Tisa wish fish", painted by Hungarian and Ukrainian children.
