Transcarpathia will be cooperating with the Serbian region of Vojvodina. And UzhNU students can study in the universities of Serbia

The cooperation agreement was signed by the Head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Oleksandr Ledyda and a representative of the Government of Vojvodina Slavko Rat on Wednesday, October 30. The meeting was attended, among others, by the Rector of Uzhgorod National University Fedir Vashchuk, academician of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the President of Vojvodinian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Novi Sad, as well as the Director of the Vojvodinian Ruthenian Culture Institute Serhiy Tamas.

   – Signing of this agreement is truly historic event for our region, – representative of the Government of Vojvodina Slavko Rat said. – For the first time the relations between our regions became official.

   In turn, the Rector of UzhNU Fedir Vashchuk, who was present at the meeting, spoke about plans to introduce distance education and opening of Ruthenian language, history and culture department at one of the university faculties:

      

   Then, Oleksandr Ledyda and Slavko Rat signed the bilateral agreement on cooperation between Transcarpathian region and the region of Vojvodina. Under the agreement, the parties will develop cooperation in the fields of science and education, culture and arts, tourism and sport. Also, the parties will promote studying of Ukrainian students at the University of Novi Sad, training of students of the region in the school "Petro Kuzmyak" (in Rusky Krestur, Serbia) and other Serbian schools with optional study of Ukrainian language, and also Serbian students will have the opportunity to study in UzhNU.

   The Serbian delegation also plans to meet with scientists of Uzhgorod National University, visit Uzhgorod businesses and Transcarpathian Museum of Folk Architecture and Life.                                                                                    Press center of the RSA
