Transcarpathia is one of the five regions with a prevalence of rural population over urban

Fresh data on the population of Transcarpathia announced by the Main Department of Statistics in the region show that, unlike other regions of Ukraine, Transcarpathia remains a region with demographic stability.
"Since the last national census of Ukraine in 2001, the number of Transcarpathians has barely changed, and the annual rate of population growth mostly has positive dynamics, Hennadiy Moskal’s site informs. According to statistics, 1,257 million people are currently living in Transcarpathia, 1,258 million lived here according to the 2001 census, and 1,252 million in 1989. It is significant that the region is among the half of the regions of Ukraine, where the population’s migration increase is recorded. Another feature of Transcarpathia is that it is one of the five regions with a prevalence of rural population over urban.
