Transcarpathia and the Maramures county of Romania confirmed friendship and cooperation

As part of the celebration of the Ukrainian-Romanian Day of Neighborliness, on Saturday, May 12, the heads of state and local governments of the Maramures county and Transcarpathia met in the city of Sighetu Marmatiei (Romania).

The event traditionally began at the customs post "Solotvyno", in the middle of the bridge across the Tisa river, on the Ukrainian-Romanian border, then it moved to the picturesque Gradina Mori park.

In a solemn atmosphere, representatives of the region signed the Program of joint activities with the Romanian party for the development of mutual contacts and cooperation between Transcarpathia and the Maramures county. The cooperation agreement provides for one-time and long-term projects, activities in such fields as economics, general and vocational education, scientific and technical cooperation, environmental protection, cultural and natural heritage, tourism, development of villages and cities, cultural, public and sports life; cooperation between authorities and agricultural institutions, attraction of international technical assistance, – the press service of the Transcarpathian Regional Council informed.
