In support of public initiatives and to honor the memory of servicemen and volunteers who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, to perpetuate their heroism, enhance the patriotic spirit in the society, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky founded the Day of Remebrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, which will be celebrated annually on August 29.
On that day, memorial events to honor the defenders of Ukraine will be held throughout the country.
In Transcarpathia, flags at government institutions will be at half mast, in addition, businesses, institutions and organizations of various forms of ownership are advised to refrain from entertainment activities, and TV and radio companies should make appropriate changes to their programs.
In Uzhgorod, on the Hill of Glory, flowers will be laid at the Memorial to the fallen heroes. Accompanied by the brass band, the leaders of the region, the city, law enforcement agencies, members of the public and the clergy will lay flowers at the Memorial and the graves of the fallen ATO soldiers.
The event starts at 10.00.
We invite the citizens of Uzhgorod and guests of the city to honor the memory of Ukrainian heroes.
