Tomorrow, historian Yosyp Kobal will conduct a tour the Greek Catholic quarter of Uzhgorod (ANNOUNCEMENT)

It is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the emergence of the Greek Catholic Church from underground and will run along two central streets – Augustine Voloshin and Kapitulna.

It is known that before the war there was a whole Greek Catholic quarter in the center of Uzhgorod, which included not only the cathedral and the bishop’s residence, but also the seminary, the men’s and women’s teacher’s seminaries, the Basilian men’s and women’s monasteries, orphanages, dormitories, private homes of canons and priests. Uzhgorod citizens will be able not only to hear stories about each of the buildings, but also to see the apartment of the repressed Bishop Oleksandr Khira, in which he lived before his arrest. Bishop of Mukachevo Greek Catholic Diocese Milan will tell about events on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of religious freedom.

The beginning of the educational walk on September 4 at 15.00 from the former Basilian monastery (now the physical faculty of UzhNU).
