Tomorrow, a film and a book about the village of Dubrivka will be presented in Uzhgorod (Announcement)

This autumn, the village of Dubrivka in Uzhgorod solemnly celebrated the 600th anniversary of the first written mention. On this occasion, on December 5, at 5:00 pm, the Uzhgorod Greek Catholic Theological Academy named after Theodor Romzha will host the presentation of a documentary film by Vyacheslav Bihun "The Last Soldier" and the book by Oleksandr Havrosh "Dubrivka Then and Now".

The presentation will be attended by Bishop Milan Shashik, the head of the village of Dubrivka Roman Vasylyndra, the hero of the film "The Last Soldier" Yuriy Kuruts, the director Vyacheslav Bihun, writer Oleksandr Havrosh, and publisher Oleksandra Harkusha.

The film "The Last Soldier" shows the fate of the entire Transcarpathians through the story of one person. In the 35-minute documentary film, the last soldier of the Second World War, a chess player, a librarian, a deacon, 91-year-old Yuriy Kuruts, tells an epic story of his life, his native land.

"Dubrivka Then and Now" is a historic essay abundantly supplemented with more than a hundred unique photographs. For centuries, the village was on the border of Uzhgorod and Bereg Commitats.   According to the author, the hard work on the book lasted for more than six months. The book "Dubrivka Then and Now" can be a great example for other villages in Transcarpathia, that want to present their history and present in a contemporary form, in a concise, capacious and illustrative way.
