Today, the Transcarpathian faithfuls begin the Advent fast

Transcarpathian faithfuls begin the 40-day fast, which will last from November 28 to January 6.

During this period, Christians traditionally limit themselves in food and take more time for prayers. They do it to prepare themselves physically and mentally for the bright holiday of Christmas.

And yesterday, Transcarpathian Catholics lit the first of the four candles on the "Advent Wreath", which marks the beginning of Christmas expectation.
