The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Hennadiy Moskal reported about the flood situation in the region:
– At 10.00, the highest rise of water in the rivers Tisa and Latorytsya was recorded near Chop on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. In the Tisza, the wave height reaches 4.5 meters, but there is no threat of flooding. Today, in the afternoon, the water level in the rivers will gradually drop. The average rise of water level in Transcarpathian region these days has been 40 – 70 cm, there were no floodings, except for Uzhgorod district, where the Latorytsya river burst its banks and overflowed local road between the villages of Velyki Heyivtsi and Tysaahtelek. As of Monday morning, there is no overflow on the road, the river is within its banks.
The current flood in Transcarpathia damaged shore reinforcements at about 7 million hryvnia. All damages are documented, but there is no funding for reconstruction work.
