Today, February 15, on the Day of commemoration of the combatants in other states and the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, Transcarpathians laid flowers at the monument to the Sorrowful Mother in Uzhgorod, the press center of RSA reported.
The participants of the ceremony paid tribute to the fallen soldiers with a moment of silence, after which the orchestra performed the national anthem of Ukraine. Confessors of different faiths prayed for peace in our land and called for peace and harmony.
Then, in the Regional Philharmonic, there was a concert on the occasion of the Day of commemoration of the combatants.
Note: Among Ukrainians, who were in the so-called Afghan war (December 25, 1979 – February 15, 1989), there were 3049 Transcarpathians, 53 of whom were killed and 4 went missing in action.
