Today, deratization has started in Uzhgorod

They will be working for several days, covering 136 waste container sites, slopes over the river, the areas densely populated by the Roma community.

According to the assistant health inspector, who heads the department of prevention and disinfection of Uzhgorod city and district branch of the State Institution Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Nadia Malevichko, disinfestation is carried out twice a year – in spring and autumn. They use grain treated with a certified drug bromavit or its analogue brodivit.

The works are commissioned by the Department of Municipal Economy of Uzhgorod City Council. This year, about 80,000 UAH was allocated for deratization and, according to Ms. Nadia, for the first time in many years, it is as much as necessary, considering how expensive the means for rodent control are.
The health inspector complains that Uzhgorod residents often come to them, complain about rats, but only one condominium in Uzhgorod signed a deratization agreement, the rest just ask and then refuse. They say that they will not be able to get from the tenants the money required for payment. Although it is only 1.29 UAH per square meter to be treated.
