Oleksiy Molchanov received musical education in Kyiv, where his teachers were Lidia Shchur, Oleksandr Snegirev and Volodymyr Vynnytsky. During his studies, he received awards as a pianist, in particular at the Lysenko contest in Lviv in 1984. While still being a student, he started an active concert activity. He has performed as a soloist and in numerous chamber ensembles in Ukraine and abroad.
Since 1995 he has been living in Serbia, where he continues his artistic and pedagogical activity. He moved to Montenegro in 1999, and since May 2000 he has been working at the Cetinje Music Academy. His professional and creative life is successful and fruitful.
Oleksiy Molchanov is a professor and mentor at the Cetinje Music Academy.
