Tobacco smuggling: a Romanian citizen lost his car

In Transcarpathia, a 27-year-old foreigner lost his car due to an attempted cigarette smuggling.
Today, while carrying out control measures at the "Dyakovo" checkpoint, border guards of the Mukachevo detachment prevented an attempt to illegally move tobacco products across the state border. The border guards suspected a car "Ford" driven by a Romanian citizen.
Based on the analysis and risk assessment, the border guards decided to carry out an in-depth inspection of the vehicle together with the customs officers, during which they found 140 packs of cigarettes of various brands. The tobacco products were hidden in the cavities of the car located in the front door of the car. According to the established procedure, the report on administrative offense was drawn up against the offender, and the man lost not only the contraband cigarettes, but also the vehicle.
According to the press service of the Mukachevo border guard detachment, the vehicle was estimated at UAH 69,870, the cigarettes were estimated at UAH 5,200.
