“Tisa-1” channel was robbed – the newscast was disrupted

On the night of January 31, in Uzhgorod, unknown persons robbed one of the premises of the regional TV channel "Tisa-1". This was reported by the director of the TV channel Vitaliy Meshcheryakov.

According to Meshcheryakov, they stole old, Soviet-time equipment, while new equipment was left untouched. Also cables were cut. "Therefore, this robbery looks pretty strange. I suppose that they wanted to cause damage rather than steal anything" – Meshcheryakov said.

He noted that the burglars had broken into the editing room. The equipment was stolen from there, so a morning newscast was disrupted.

In the evening on January 30, "Tisa-1" the TV channel broadcast a program devoted to the scandal with detention of the First Deputy Mayor Istvan Tsap. The director of the TV channel said that there was no evidence of a causal link between these events.

Meanwhile, as reported on the website of the Main Office of the National Police in Transcarpathian region, the thief has already been detained. "Officers of Uzhgorod Criminal Police detained a 32-year-old resident of Uzhgorod, who is suspected of theft from the local TV company. The man, who has had several previous convictions for committing property crimes, this time stole equipment from the TV company premises. According to the detainee, he broke a plastic window, entered into the room and stole valuable property" – the police informed.

The police opened criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 3 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (burglary). The physical evidence was seized and returned to the TV company, the local police informed.
