In the Chop House of Culture, there are many men in camouflage – Chop border guards, who were defending the eastern borders of the country for about six months, returned home!
Soldiers of the operational military border guard commandant "Chop" consisting of 173 persons with a convoy of vehicles and under command of its combat commandant Serhiy Sokolovsky returned from the front in the ATO area: some came by train from Berdyansk, others – by military vehicles.
Transcarpathian "Green Berets" were sent to eastern Ukraine on September 18, the base camp was Novohorodivka in Donetsk region.Unfortunately, two men were killed while performing the duty – Major Victor Shepental and soldier Robert Kis. Also, the Chop community mourns the loss of Oleg Koval (128th brigade)… Four critically injured border guards fortunately have recovered.
The men were traditionally welcomed with bread and salt. After the spiritual and the national anthems of Ukraine, there was a minute’s silence in memory of the fallen colleagues. After that, the "Green Berets" were awarded with valuable gifts, insignia, diplomas and gratitudes (for courage, dedication, patriotism, honor and dignity in the performance of their military duty and commitment to the Ukrainian people in carrying out combat missions in the anti-terrorist operation). There were performances of children’s music school and local community center students, as well as border guards.
However, the warmest impressions are congratulations from loved ones, hugs and tears of joy… and proud that our "green berets" performed their duty with honor and dignity and came back alive! Chop, Transcarpathia, and Ukraine is proud of our border guards!
