There are no vaccines against snake bites in Transcarpathia

As of today, there are no vaccines against snake bites in the hospitals of Transcarpathia. This information was confirmed by the Transcarpathian Regional Health Center.

"According to the distribution plan, the region should receive 44 vaccines, but the term of their delivery is not known at the moment," – they said.

Since the beginning of this year, two cases of snake bites have been recorded in Transcarpathia, both in Rakhiv district. The victim were provided with the necessary medical care, in particular intensive care.

At the same time, according to the Regional Health Center, during all the years of independence, there has been no single lethal case after snake bite in Transcarpathian region.

Every year, rescuers provide assistance to citizens who call the Rescue Service about reptiles. Those are cases of getting into residential premises, incidents with tourists and holidaymakers in the mountains, and so on.

Transcarpathians in social networks often share pictures of reptiles. Local residents have encountered snakes, the length of which reached about 3 meters. Due to the lack of information and knowledge about the types of snakes and their safety for humans, animals are often killed. This became a cause for concern among animal rights activists. According to experts, there are no deadly snakes in Transcarpathian region. At the same time, according to the Transcarpathian Regional Health center, in case of a snake bite or a suspicion of a bite, it is necessary to appeal to doctors who will provide all necessary help.
