A lot of things can be said about the village of Lopukhovo in Tyachiv district – just like about any of the thousands of Ukrainian villages. You can describe the life of the village and its inhabitants, as Semen Reznik once did.
He noticed the details in the village that are unusual not only to foreigners but even to residents of neighboring settlements. Residents of the village have to buy almost all their food – because of a bad climate, nothing grows there, except for potatoes. The residents joke mirthlessly: "We live like in a city."
But, oddly enough, few of the residents of this Transcarpathian village go to work elsewhere – many of them work in the timber industry. Belgian filmmaker Jara Malevez even made a film about the latters, it is called "Lopukhovo."
And photographer Serhiy Hudak, while roaming the surroundings of winter Lopukhovo, saw a powerful, formidable and astounding beauty, which never fails to amaze.
