On the eve of the Day of commemoration of political repression victims, which is celebrated in Ukraine on the third Sunday of May, a memorial gathering will be held in Uzhgorod, in the Heaven’s Hundred park on Rakoczi street.
Laying of flowers to the monument to the victims of the communist totalitarianism will begin at 11.00 am on Saturday, May 18.
It is expected that the event will be attended by regional and city officials, members of the Transcarpathian regional organization "All-Ukrainian Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed Persons", representatives of the public.
We invite residents of the region to join the commemoration of the victims.
The Day of commemoration of political repression victims was introduced by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in 2007 to honor the victims of repression, to draw public attention to the tragic pages in the history of Ukraine, caused by the violent introduction of communist ideology.
On the Day of commemoration of political repression victims, May 19, the State Flag of Ukraine on houses and buildings will be at half mast.
