As we recently reported, Ukrzaliznytsya plans to close the Uzhgorod Children’s Railway. Back in 2013, at a session of the Uzhgorod City Council, deputies decided to take ownership of the railway for reconstruction and restoration, but it never came to fruition.
And now the issue of taking over the Uzhgorod Children’s Railway may be considered by deputies of the Uzhgorod City Council at the next session which will take place on September 10.
The mayor Bohdan Andriyiv announced it on his page on Facebook.
The mayor stated: "The children’s narrow-gauge railway is the highlight of our city, several generations of Uzhgorod residents have grown up with it, we must preserve it. I hope for the support of city council deputies and that Ukrzaliznytsya will hand it over to Uzhgorod."
