The State Agency of Motor Roads of Ukraine intends to implement the project of a new autobahn Lviv – Budapest via the checkpoint "Dyida". This is stated on the official page of the Agency on Facebook.
Within the framework of this project, the Ukravtodor, together with the World Bank, began preparing a pre-feasibility study for the construction (reconstruction) of the I category road Lviv-Mukachevo.
This road will become the main artery for the export of Ukrainian goods to Eastern and Southern Europe and the transit corridor of international trade through Ukraine from Belarus and the Baltic States to the countries of Eastern and Southern Europe, and will ensure the steady connectivity of Transcarpathia with other regions of Ukraine.
Currently, the M-06 road from Mukachevo to Lviv passes through a complex mountainous relief, and therefore the drive takes about 3.5 hours. The new autobahn will reduce the drive time to 2 hours.
Preparation of the project’s pre-feasibility study involves the development of the most optimal concept of a new route with proposals for the reconstruction of existing sections of the road and / or construction of new ones, as well as estimation of the cost of the project in accordance with the chosen concept.
The new freeway will connect Lviv with the Hungarian motorway M-3 Budapest-Nyíregyháza and become the main motor transport corridor between Ukraine and Hungary.
