The Tisa brings about 3,000 tons of garbage to Hungary from the territory of Ukraine and Romania

Hungary has introduced high-tech wastewater treatment systems on the Tisa river, MyHungary.Net informs.

Special barge-mounted mechanical systems collect plastic bottles and bulky debris. But Hungary will not be able to solve the problem on its own, as long as about 3,000 tons of garbage is coming from the territories of Ukraine and Romania.

In recent years, Hungarians have lifted several thousand tons of garbage from the river. This year, the waste management project in the waters of the Upper Tisa was financed by the state budget in amount of HUF 1.3 billion. Up to ten tonnes of waste were disposed of in August. The President of the country, Janos Ader, said that the developed and implemented technology is being tested on the Tisa river. And even if these machines can’t collect 100% but only 80% of the waste, it is still good. The president also added that the Hungarians have to clean up not only their own garbage but also from other countries. However, Ukraine and Romania should realize that the key to solving the Tisa clean water problem is in their hands.
