Tax police officers of the Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region took effective measures as part of the operation "Frontier". Yesterday, in the course of the operation to counter the illicit transportation of goods across the state border, tax police officers of Transcarpathian region, at the entrance to the checkpoint "Uzhgorod – Vysne Nemecke" of the Transcarpathian customs office, stopped a truck IVEKO.
During the inspection of the driver’s cab of the said vehicle driven by a Ukrainian, they found 12 plastic bags wrapped with duct tape that had been prepared for being smuggled across the border. They contained dull, transparent and translucent pebbles, which turned out to be amber, weighing about 80 kg.
The investigators recorded the confiscation of the amber in the report on the inspection of the scene. Currently, priority investigative procedures are being carried out to classify the offense and register it in the URPI.

The cost of the found amber on the black market is UAH 5 million 280 thousand.
