The street named after Uzhgorod mayor’s father – as a mirror of junior Pogorelov’s activity

The street named after Volodymyr Pogorelov – the father of the current mayor of Uzhgorod – is primarily associated with utilities.

This street is adjacent to Komunalnyky lane, where the company "KATP-072801" – the brainchild of Pogorelov Sr. – is situated. Once this company was engaged in garbage disposal in Uzhgorod. Now the utility functions more as a parking lot for official and public transport.

It would seem that if the street is named after not just an Uzhgorod utility worker, but also the father of the current mayor, whom the latter often flaunts, a priori it must be perfect – a model for proper maintenance. But …

So, let’s start the "tour" from the beginning of the street – from the intersection with Kapushanska street. Bumpy patched asphalt on the roadway as well as on the sidewalks – the first thing that catches your eye. Vehicles can not drive faster than 30-40 km per hour here. But the bad asphalt is not the speed limiting means. 

Most storm-water drains on Pogorelov street are clogged. During the rain the water is not removed, but again and again destroys the remaining asphalt.

On the section of the street, where the main office of Transcarpathian Gas Works is located, there is a trap – an open hatch on the roadway.   

And before the intersection with Zankovetska street on Pogorelov street there is almost a "speed bump" – a poorly buried trench that forces drivers to move with a minimum speed.

However, as we go further we can see that half of Pogorelov street – to the intersection with Zankovetska street – is like a highway compared with the section from Zankovetska to Bohomolets street. There’s no asphalt on the road at all! And drivers have to maneuver between numerous pits and potholes. After the rain tires just drown in deep puddles. In short, you can safely drive there only by SUV or truck. But best of all – by a tank.

Now, when it’s cold, the puddles on Pogorelov street are frozen, and the road became harder. However, when the temperature is above zero, this "communal" street turns into a continuous swamp mess.

So, that is how the Mayor honors his revered father. If the Mayor, who promised to return order in the city, can not ensure it even on the street named after his own father, can we be sure that he can restore at least some order anywhere in the regional center?
