The storm in Uzhgorod: 60 trees fell, 20 streets left without elcectricity, 2 schools suffered

Yesterday, April 15, squalls toppled over 60 trees in Uzhgorod – mostly in city gardens and parks, surrounding areas and main streets. The bad weather left 20 streets without electricity. In most of the houses electricity have been restored.

Fallen trees damaged 4 cars – on Kotsyubynsky, Zahorska, Belinsky and Sobranetska streets. The storm damaged the pipeline, which supplied gas to two houses – № 35 and № 37 on Sobranetska street. Employees of the "Zakarpathaz" JSC restored gas supply.

Currently, trees have been sawn and removed, the roads have been cleared. 

According to the deputy mayor Vitaliy Semal, today the utilities continue to remove sawn trees and branches. And the staff of the Department of Municipal Economy of Uzhgorod City Council examine the city to identify dangerous trees.

The storm caused considerable damage to the premises and playgrounds of kindergartens and schools in the city. Thus, the worst situation in the high school "Intellect", where strong winds damaged the roof, and in the school number 13 – here bad weather damaged the fence and the roof.
