The source of the fake news about “Rusyn autonomy” are sites registered in Russia

 

This was reported by the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region. 

The fake news about alleged request of Rusyns to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to recognize the autonomy of Transcarpathia was spread by many Russian sites including TASS. But the source, which was cited in its article only by Lenta.ru, is a little-known site zakarpatye.com.ua.

Specialists of the Security Service of Ukraine checked the source of the fake and found out that the site is registered in Russia. 

– After the check of the sources, the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, it was found out that those sites are registered in Russia. Such fake news are elements of information warfare against our country, – the Security Service of Ukraine informed. 

As you know, at the end of December this year, some online publications began spreading the news about the assembly of Transcarpathian Rusyns, who allegedly appealed to the Ukrainian government with the request to grant the region autonomy. As it turned out, it was fake.
