The smuggler, who transported amber through the checkpoint “Tisa”, will be tried in Hungary

This was reported to the Mukachevo.net by the spokeswoman of Transcarpathian regional prosecution office Victoria Popovich.

– Hungarian police confiscated 12,500 cartons of cigarettes and nearly a ton of amber. Now, they are conducting their own criminal proceeding, Victoria Popovich said.

According to her, the confiscated contraband will not be returned to Ukraine and the detained bus driver will be tried in Hungary.

The investigation department of Transcarpathian regional prosecution office, based on the case of the department to combat corruption and organized crime of the Security Service Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region, initiated criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Art.364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – abuse of power or position. 

Recall that yesterday, Hungarian customs officers found in a vehicle, which had come from Ukraine, almost a ton of amber. The management of the checkpoint "Tisa" is suspended.
