The situation with diphtheria in Uzhgorod is localized

An extraordinary meeting of the anti-epidemic commission was held today in Uzhgorod city council, the press service informs. It was noted that the diphtheria epidemic situation in the city had stabilized, 1.3 maximum incubation periods had passed without new cases of diphtheria detected (since October 24, 2019), which is a sign of outbreak localization.

According to the Uzhgorod City Center for Primary Medical and Social Assistance, about 13,000 vaccinations were conducted for both adults and children, including 2,436 UzhNU students, including 1,117 foreign students. All vaccination centers in Uzhgorod have enough vaccines.

The Anti-Epidemic Commission has decided to recommend the UzhNU management to resume the educational process at the medical faculty №2, while continuing restricting access to the clinical bases of the medical faculties without proof of vaccination until the end of the academic year. Also, the management of UzhNU is recommended to develop mechanisms for enrollment of foreign citizens with proof of vaccinations and citizens of Ukraine with form 063-O (preventive vaccinations card).

The Department of Education of the City Council continues to monitor the implementation of the decision of the Anti-Epidemic Commission of April 19, 2019 on the ban for unvaccinated children to attend schools as well as the vaccination of pedagogical staff.
