In Transcarpathian region, the Security Service of Ukraine, eliminated a channel for smuggling of firearms and ammunition to Ukraine. This was reported on the site of the Service on May 27.
"It was established that the means of destruction had come from one of the European countries and were hidden in a detergent box and sent under the guise of a parcel through private carriers engaged in international transportation", – the Security Service of Ukraine reported.
As a result of the complex of investigation measures, on May 25 this year, in the city of Mukachevo, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained a 36-year-old local resident, after he had received the parcel.
During the inspection of the parcel, law enforcement officers found and seized three grenades F-1 with fuses, firearm with ammunition, $ 1,000 and instructions indicating to whom and how it was to be forwarded. If the smuggling attempt had been successful, the offenders planned to ship means of destruction to Ukraine every month.
The Investigative Division of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region notified the detainee of suspision under Part 2 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
