The second flood wave is being formed on Transcarpathian rivers

– As of 10.00, Sunday (26.02), water level in the Latorytsya river has risen by 40 cm, – Hennadiy Moskal said. – Between the villages of Velyki Heyivtsi and Tysaahtelek (Uzhgorod district), the river, that burst its banks, still overflows a local road. Traffic is hampered, but not blocked, the overflow area compared to yesterday’s has not increased.

In the Tisa river, the flood wave that yesterday went to Hungary, due to the nature of the channel, has returned to Transcarpathia near Chop, and today finally go to the territory of the neighboring country. During the last day, the water level in the river rose by 40 cm, now the height of the flood wave reaches 5 meters. There is no threat of water breaking out onto the floodplain. In the Uzh river, the maximum rise of water level took place today at 1.00 am, by 10:00 am water level decreased by 40 cm. In the Borzhava and the Teresva, decrease of water level is recorded too.

There is no threat of water breaking out onto the floodplain, flooding of farmland (except Uzhgorod district) or houses. Because of melting snow in the mountains, the second flood wave is being formed on the rivers of the region.

The Regional State Administration is continuously monitoring the state of the main waterways in Transcarpathia.
