Officers of the tax police of the Main Office of the State Fiscal Service in Transcarpathian region, under the procedural control of the regional prosecutor’s office, exposed the scheme for import of car spare parts to Ukraine without paying customs duties and seized a large consignment of goods. 
  
In the framework of the criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they identified a group of persons, who during 2019 evaded the payment of customs duties by employing a scheme of importation of car spare parts to the territory of Ukraine outside the customs control. To do this, they would split large batches of goods into lots not subject to declaration and imported them without payment of customs duties, allegedly for the personal needs of citizens. The goods then were sold throughout Ukraine, including through specialized online stores. 
As a result of searches carried out in the warehouses of the suspects, law enforcement officers seized a batch of car engines of different brands, used bumpers to cars and gearboxes, that had been imported to Ukraine without paying customs duties. 
The seized items with a total estimated cost of UAH 7 million were placed in responsible storage. 
The investigation is ongoing.
