According to the prosecutor’s office of Transcarpathian region, the indictment in the criminal proceeding against the foreigner, who ran over a 15-year-old girl and fled from the scene of the accident, has been approved and sent to the court. The girl died at the scene of the accident from the injuries.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was found out that the defendant, driving a car "Volkswagen Passat CC" with foreign license plates, hit a 15-year-old girl who was crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing.
Trying to avoid responsibility for the crime, the citizen of Israel tried to escape from Ukraine, but was detained at the checkpoint "Tisa" while trying to cross the border to Hungary.
The defendant is charged with a crime under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules by the person driving the vehicle, which caused the death of the victim) and Part 1 of Art. 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (leaving in danger).
Recall that the court of first instance imposed on the suspect a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention. But later, the man appealed this decision, and by the decision of the Court of Appeal, the pre-trial restraint was changed from custody to house arrest in connection with the incurable illness of the suspect.
