The rockery on Sobranetska street does not belong to Uzhgorod community anymore

The session of Uzhgorod city council approved the transfer of the green area into private ownership.

Which was actually expected.

Uzhgorod city council members adopted the resolution "On privatization of a non-agricultural land plot by purchase" on August 30.

According to it, the "Company "Magistral Ltd" LLC was to receive the land in area of ​​0.51 hectares for conservation and use of the parks – monuments of landscape art at Sobranetska st., 60. It is a rockery, that belongs to the natural reserve fund of Ukraine and is the monument of landscape architecture.

Uzhgorod company will pay for the land and the premises more than UAH 1.7 million at the rate of UAH 338.19 per 1 sq. m.

According to local activist Marianna Sobran, the park should have been given on lease but not sold – the "Zaholovok" informs.

A representative of the "Company "Magistral Ltd." LLC was also present at the session and said that the site belongs to the natural reserve fund of local importance and may be transferred into private ownership. 

He explained that the park was founded in 2001 by the "Zakarpatlis" which soon will merge with the "Company "Magistral Ltd." LLC. That is why the company does not want to destroy, but to care of the rockery park, he said.

In response, activists noted that in this case it’s a little too high a price for just taking care. Therefore, many townspeople have serious doubts about the preservation of the park in the future.

Following numerous discussions, 21 deputies of Uzhgorod City Council voted for the privatization of the park.
