On November 2, Kharkiv artist with Transcarpathian roots Oleksandr Fedyayev presented a collection of paintings in the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum in Uzhgorod. The exhibition will run until November 18. Even the announcement alone caused a lot of excitement. After all, the artist is well known in Uzhgorod and even had an exhibition here in the 1990’s.
The 56-year-old artist was born in Kostryno, Velyky Berezny district. In 1988, he graduated from Uzhgorod School of Applied Arts. Then, fate brought him to Kharkiv, where he graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts in 2002. The artist is a member of the Kharkiv organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, teaches at the already mentioned academy. This was emphasized during the opening by a museum employee, art historian Lyudmila Biksei. "Slobozhanshchyna has strong academic traditions in painting. It is famous for landscape painters, and O. Fedyayev works in this genre, – Ms. Biksei continues. – Here, we see a mixture of plein air and academic painting, which is very interesting."
Vasyl Brenzovych, the head of the Association of Professional Artists of Transcarpathia, emphasized that O. Fedyayev was formed as an artist in Transcarpathia. He was one of the first members of their association, they would often go to plein airs.
Borys Kuzma, the head of the Transcarpathian organization NUAU, added: "The exhibition is important, because it gives an opportunity to look at ourselves from outside perspective. Everyone sees our mountains in their own way."
Oleksandr Fedyayev thanked the Transcarpathian colleague Vasyl Popovych, who helped with the organization of the exhibition, and all visitors.
