The results of the “Carpathian tourist route” have been summed up in Transcarpathia

Today, there was the final conference within cross-border project "Carpathian tourist path 2" which was funded under the ENPI CBC Programme Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2007-2013.

This project was implemented by the municipal enterprise "Agency of the Regional Development and Cross-border Co-operation "Transcarpathia" of the Transcarpathian Regional Council," the Agency for Regional Development of Kosice and the Eastern Slovak Museum.  Representatives of regional and local authorities in charge of tourism issues, relevant tourism enterprises, organizations and individual experts from neighboring countries and other regions of Ukraine and districts of Transcarpathian region participated in the event.

The Chairman of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, his first deputy Mykhailo Popovich, the Deputy Governor Mykhailo Rivis also participated in the conference.

The project focuses on strengthening the role of the Carpathian region in the tourism sector within Europe through the harmonization of tourism development process at the local / regional and cross-border levels, improvment of the competitiveness of the Carpathian tourism industry in the EU market and the development of partner tourism network.

During the forum, they presented a model of the development of tourism in Transcarpathia based on expert opinions, innovative approach to the provision of museum services.

Volodymyr Chubirko first of all noted that the European integration is one of the priorities in our country. Today, Transcarpathia is making confident steps in this direction and implementing a number of joint projects with the EU. One of these, the results of which are being summed up in the region, is the "Carpathian tourist path".

Nadia Yashina, the project manager told about the achievements. Thus, they have developed the mechanism for cross-border tourism network, monitored existing programs in Europe and created a database of 120 organizations in Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Poland and Romania. Also, they arranged a number of trainings for experts in the field of tourism, signed 32 partnership agreements within the network. In the summer, as part of the project, the festival "Carpathian Babylon" was held in Uzhgorod.

At the end of the event, there was the signing of an agreement between the "Agency of Regional Development and Cross-border Co-operation "Transcarpathia" and the Department of Tourism and Infrastructure of Ternopil RSA.
