On April 16, in the atrium of the main administrative building of Transcarpathia on Narodna Square, there was a unique music event: the Academic Chamber Choir "Cantus" presented to hundreds of listeners a spiritual gem from the heritage of outstanding Transcarpathian composer Istvan Marton.
As we reported, the "Mass", written by a musician in 1940s, survived nearly half a century of oblivion becuse of a ban on such kind of music during the Soviet regime. In the early 1990’s, the conductor of the choir "Cantus" Emil Sokach decided to revive the grand work of his talented mentor. The work lasted almost 20 years, in particular, last year in cooperation with his Lviv colleague, composer Bohdana Frolyak, they created scoring for symphony orchestra that allowed to present a holistic sound of the "Mass" – performed by the choir "Cantus", singers, who have participated in workshops in Switzerland, and the Symphony orchestra of Lviv Philharmonic.
