The Regional Council has no information about the decision whereby the chief editor of the newspaper “Novyny Zakarpattya” was dismissed

The Transcarpathian Regional Council has no information about the publication of the draft decision, according to which at the plenary session of March 17 deputies voted for the dismissal of the editor of the newspaper "Novyny Zakarpattya" Vitaly Yaschyschak.

This is stated in the reply of the manager of the Regional Council executive office Yu.Huzynets to the request for information by the regional representative of the IMI.

"The draft decision, whereby the head of the municipal enterprise "Newspaper "Novyny Zakarpattya" was dismissed from his post, is not registered in the Transcarpathian Regional Council draft decisions accounting system, and therefore the Transcarpathian Regional Council has no information on the time, place and date of its publication," – Yu.Huzynets said.

Meanwhile, last week, according to the regional representative of the IMI, the Acting Chief Editor – Miroslava Halas – was introduced to the staff of the newspaper. Until 2010, she was heading the municipal newspaper "Uzhgorod", and until 2015, she worked as the deputy chief editor of the "Zakarpatska Pravda". The latter was discontinued after the local elections in the autumn.

Vitaly Yaschyschak himself, according to the representative of the IMI, at the time of the vote at the Regional Council, was on leave. Currently, he has not voiced publicly his position on the situation with his dismissal. 

As reported by the IMI, on March 17, Transcarpathian Regional Council dismissed the editor of the municipal newspaper "Novyny Zakarpatya" Vitaly Yaschyschak. The Regional Council adopted this decision on March 17 at the session.
