The leadership of the Regional State Administration, the Transcarpathian Customs, the Main Office of the National Police, the Chop and Mukachevo border guard detachments met with the representatives of the owners of cars with foreign registration to resolve, as far as possible, the problem of crossing the border by cars with EU license plates after the entry into force of legislative changes regarding the legalization of cars with foreign registration.
Since last Sunday, the new rules for the clearance of these cars have caused collapse at the checkpoints because the owners, who left the country before the entry into force of the law, cannot return home.
In this regard, there are several key issues that require prompt resolution. Those are the customs clearance procedure, which is not clearly defined, the status of the cars with foreign registration, that have been in Ukraine longer than the 5-day transit period, the mechanism of crossing the border for the cars, which first entered Ukraine before January 1, 2015, etc. Today, at 12.00, the Transcarpathian Customs will give answers to these questions to representatives of the owners of cars with foreign registration, and at 15.00 will tell in detail about the implementation of the new law at a briefing for the media.
– The regional administration within the limits of its powers will help in solving this issue, – Hennadiy Moskal said. – I can sign the corresponding order, but it will not really solve this problem. It can only be solved by the Verkhovna Rada by amending the law.
