The Rector was UzhNU was unanimously elected the chairman of the Academic Council

October 21, at the meeting of the Academic Council of UzhNU, Professor Volodymyr Smolanka, the Rector of the university was elected the Chairman of the Academic Council. By this time, the Rector of UzhNU received such authority automatically upon appointment to the office. But according to the new law "On Higher Education", the Chairman of the Academic Council shall be elected by secret ballot.  To do this, booths were installed in the UzhNU meeting room, where voter filled in ballots.

The result of the secret ballot are as follows: all present 68 of 70 members of the Academic Council (total number) voted "for", nobody voted "against" or "abstained". Thus, Volodymyr Smolanka will be heading the Academic Council for five years. The Rector thanked his colleagues for entrusting him the chair of this important board of the university.
